South Yorkshire Business Angel Network
Our Business Angel Network was a regional introduction service run by Yorkshire Association of Business Angels
The Network provided a unique regional forum bringing together the finance and business expertise of Business Angels with entrepreneurs and their new business ideas.
Conventional financing often fails to serve the smaller 'higher risk' investment opportunities. Business Angels are now widely accepted as a vital source of funding that bridge the gap in the equity market.
Since its inception in 1995, membership has grown steadily to over 100 members and associates. Yorkshire Association of Business Angels (YABA) meets regularly at various venues throughout the Yorkshire and Humberside region.
Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to present their ideas to a highly receptive audience and also to network with some of the most influential business leaders in the region.
YABA is non-profit making, charging only a modest membership fee to Angels and a small administration charge to entrepreneurs. YABA takes no commission whatsoever from any funds raised.
Entrepreneurs not only have the chance to personally present their ideas at the YABA meeting, but also have their proposal circulated by post to all members.
As well as running the South Yorkshire Business Angel Network on behalf of South Yorkshire Investment Fund, YABA is supported by Yorkshire Forward – the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Development Agency.
Would-be Business Angels and entrepreneurs are welcome to contact the network for more information:
YABA aims to bring together aspiring entrepreneurs with great ideas and Business Angel investors who, as well as bringing much-needed funds to these businesses, also bring industry experience and contacts. Regular investor forums are held where businesses seeking to raise funds get the chance to make presentations to our network of Business Angels who are keen to invest in fast-growing businesses.
We now have funds available, through our Money with Management programme, to offer help to companies, to get them investor ready, and to investors, in order to get technical due diligence on a business they are interested in.
