SYIF award winning sponsorship

Published: 2nd October 2006

South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) has shown its support for local businesses across the county by sponsoring a category at each of this year’s Chamber of Commerces’ Business Awards.

SYIF have chosen to sponsor the Sheffield Chamber’s Export Excellence Award, a category which recognises a business that has successfully developed international markets, leading to performance improvements in sales, revenue, profitability, job creation and company profile.

The Innovation Award at Barnsley Chamber’s business awards is also been sponsored by SYIF, along with Doncaster Chamber’s Most Innovative New Business Award and the Business Growth Award at the Rotherham Chamber’s award ceremony.

SYIF offers a series of loan and equity linked investments ranging between £15,000 and £2.5 million designed specifically to help small and medium businesses meet the gaps in funding they need for development or acquisitions.

The Fund can back suitable businesses through critical stages of growth from early stage through to major expansion, management buy-outs, management buy-ins and turnarounds.

An integral part of the way the Fund helps businesses is through its Mentorbank project, which provides subsidised mentoring support to help management teams grow their businesses by introducing mentors or non-executive directors who can give invaluable help and advice.

Tony Goulbourn, SYIF Chief Executive, explained: "Through working with local businesses, South Yorkshire Investment Fund recognises the importance of export and innovation to the success of South Yorkshire. We are therefore delighted to be sponsoring such categories at each of the South Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce award ceremonies."
