Four teams of financial advisers pitched their financial package solutions to a team of illustrious business dragons – in the region’s own ‘Dragon’s Den’ event.

Working in teams advisers took part in an "Impress the Dragons” workshop with some of the region’s businesses before putting forward their own packaging solution to the "Dragons” later that day.

South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) and Renaissance South Yorkshire organised the ‘Invest in South Yorkshire’ event which took place at The Source, Meadowhall.  The workshop aimed to increase the understanding of the different financial options available to advisers when putting together funding packages.

Real life business cases came from SYIF clients, Silvapower Ltd of Doncaster, UK Cabling Ltd of Sheffield, Connexion2 Ltd of Dinnington, and also the WFO Group from Rotherham.

Teams of advisers impressed the 'Dragons', which included Julie Kenny CBE, Managing Director of Rotherham-based Pyronix, Tariq Javaid, Business Finance Manager at Yorkshire Forward, Leeds, Julie Readman from Business Link South Yorkshire, Rotherham and Geoff Wray of Farfield Associates, Bingley.

The winning team who worked with Silvapower, developed a potentially successful financial package solution and also took away a dragon shaped money box!

Andy Frith from WFO Group hosted the workshop which saw presentations from Natwest Royal Bank of Scotland, SYIF, City Invoice, Yorkshire Association of Business Angles and Business Link South Yorkshire.

The finance experts did a short presentation on their area of expertise and were then available during the group work for the advisers to ask questions.
