SYIF appoints experienced investment manager

South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) has appointed a new investment manager.
Ian Waterfield, 34, joins SYIF from the YFM Group in Leeds, where he worked as investment manager for their Yorkshire and Humber Equity Fund, investing in businesses across the region.
Prior to this, Ian spent 12 years with KPMG, Europe’s largest integrated accounting firm, where he qualified as a chartered accountant and went on to become an Associate Director in their Transaction Services division.
Based in Rotherham, Ian’s role as investment manager will involve appraising new opportunities to invest in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Yorkshire and ensuring investments are completed as smoothly as possible. He will also be working alongside the management teams of investee companies to help them achieve their growth ambitions.
Ian said: “I was attracted to this position at SYIF because it gives me the opportunity to work with ambitious, young businesses across the region, helping them to grow.
“I’m looking forward to building relationships in South Yorkshire and getting more involved in helping management teams achieve their goals.”

About South Yorkshire Investment Fund
South Yorkshire Investment Fund provided seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15k to £2.5m, specifically to help small and medium businesses meet the gaps in funding they need for growth and development.
Created as part of the Objective 1 programme, the Fund is a private and public sector business finance provider. The European Regional Development Fund and Yorkshire Forward are investors in the Fund.
South Yorkshire Investment Fund also provided access to Business Angel investments from the Yorkshire Association of Business Angels and Microloans through BiG Business Loan Fund and Donbac Microloan Fund.
Finance Yorkshire has now taken on responsibility for providing gap finance in Yorkshire and the Humber.
