South Yorkshire Investment Fund has appointed Tony Parsons as a new board member.
Mr Parsons, who has spent 35 years in the banking profession, was formally the Director of Commercial Banking at the Royal Bank of Scotland in South Yorkshire and prior to this was Director for Corporate Banking at Nat West.
Mr Parsons, who has lived and worked in the South Yorkshire Region since 1987, said: "I know the area very well and am very much aware of both the business and commercial issues affecting the area.
"I look forward to bringing my experience to the Fund and hope that I can help them continue with their success."
Tony Goulbourn, Chief Executive of South Yorkshire Investment Fund Ltd, said: "We are delighted Tony has agreed to join the board. He brings with him considerable expertise and knowledge which will strengthen our team at the Fund."
Mr Parsons is a trustee at both Magna - the science education centre - and Help a Hallam Child - the charity supported by Hallam FM to help children across South Yorkshire and the North Midlands.
He lives in Eyam where he is Director of the local museum and secretary of the annual half marathon which is held in the village every May - raising money for Sheffield's Western Park Hospital, St Luke's Hospice, Ashgate Hospice and village charities.
Mr Parsons, married with two children, still manages to find time for watching sport and gardening.
