Fund provides £50k loan for greetings card manufacturer.
A Sheffield firm, which is set to celebrate its 150th birthday, has secured a £50,000 unsecured loan from South Yorkshire Investment Fund.
Loxleys Print Ltd, which employs 90 people, is investing £200k in state-of-the-art technology for the manufacture and packing of greetings cards.
The business was introduced to the Fund by Richard Lukey of Business Link South Yorkshire. The loan from SYIF is matched by IFG2 grant funding with a further £150k injection coming from the company.
Based on Aizlewood Road in Sheffield, the company works for some of the major UK card publishers, including Carte Blanche and Paper Rose and has annual turnover of £6million.
Managing Director of Loxley's, Tim Carrington, said: "We are delighted with our loan from SYIF, it means that we can introduce the first 'digital asset management' facility into the UK greetings card industry.
"The investment will help us develop our marketing strategy - including the launch of a patented pennant product."
Tony Goulbourn, Chief Executive of South Yorkshire Investment Fund Ltd, said: "We are always thrilled to help a long and established company. Loxley's is steeped in history but maintain their position in the market place by continued investment and innovative."
The Fund provides loans and equity investments ranging from £15k to £ 2.5m to businesses in, or prepared to relocate to, South Yorkshire. The Fund has already invested over £4.75 million in over 70 businesses.
It offers two key products, one of which is loans ranging from £15k to £ 150k with effective annual interest rates from as little as 3% per annum. Loans are unsecured for the majority of established profitable businesses with unsecured loans of up to £50k available for start-ups or early stage businesses.
The second product is an equity-linked package of a loan with equity options or equity investment, ranging from £50k to £2.5m where the Fund may take a minority shareholding in the business.
A unique feature of the way the Fund can help businesses is the Mentorbank project, which provides subsidised mentoring support to help management teams grow their business more profitably. South Yorkshire Investment Fund also run Capital Network a Business Angels introductory service for early stage businesses in South Yorkshire.
