SYIF Profile Winter 2008 Newsletter

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest edition of Profile.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This will be the final edition of 2008 and what a year it has been. When we look back on the last 12 months everyone will obviously talk about it being the year the credit crunch hit the country and how it affected businesses gaining finance.

However, I would like to end the year on a more positive note and highlight the successes achieved at South Yorkshire Investment Fund in 2008.

The latest figures show that SYIF will fully invest, achieve its targeted investment return and exceed most of the economic targets, making it one of the most successful funds in the country.

This is terrific news for South Yorkshire business and a sign of how thriving the Fund can be for the region's economy.

During 2008, SYIF has gained key partnerships with Donbac and the BiG: Make it your Business initiative, to support small businesses. Recently, Finance South Yorkshire, which manages SYIF's Small Business Fund, joined the Community Development Finance Association (CDFA).

At SYIF we always believe small and medium businesses are hugely important to the region and evidence of this is provided throughout the newsletter. This includes articles on companies such as Inertius, Ecus and Sonelli Hair and Beauty Ltd.

We do hope you enjoy reading this latest edition of Profile.

Regards

Tony Goulbourn
Chief Executive
